Thiruvananthapuram: The 'cable-free' initiative, implemented by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation to make the city more beautiful and safe, has been launched at Palayam. Mayor V. V. Rajesh inaugurated the project by cutting and removing redundant overhead cables in front of the Palayam Connemara Market.
The objective of the project is to remove cables that were installed unscientifically or abandoned by service providers, and to safely organize the cables that are currently in use. The project will be implemented in a phased manner across all 101 wards of the Corporation. In the first phase, work is currently underway in five wards: Palayam, Fort, Kannammoola, Thycaud, and Perunthanni.
Through a project aimed at ensuring public safety and enhancing the city's aesthetics, the Municipality intends to remove hazardous cables and provide a safe environment for movement.
