Corporation Launches New Initiative for Recycling Signage Waste

Thiruvananthapuram: As part of its continued efforts to make Ananthapuri cleaner and more environmentally friendly, a new initiative has been launched to scientifically collect and recycle expired advertising flex boards and signage boards.

The flag-off ceremony of the ‘Signage Media Recycle Waste Collection’ vehicle, jointly implemented by the Sign Printing Industries Association (SPIA), Green Worms, and Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, was held at the Corporation premises.

The primary objective of the initiative is to ensure that expired advertising flex boards and signage boards are not discarded carelessly but are scientifically collected and channelled for recycling. The initiative is expected to play a significant role in ensuring proper waste management at the source and maximising opportunities for recycling and reuse.

Officials highlighted that public cooperation and responsible waste management are essential to safeguarding the environment while maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the city.

Health Standing Committee Chairperson Shri M. R. Gopan, Development Standing Committee Chairperson Shri Karamana Ajith, SPIA office-bearers, and Corporation officials were present at the function.

This initiative is expected to further strengthen the Corporation’s efforts to establish sustainable waste management practices and transform Ananthapuri into an environmentally friendly city.
